Faith, Family, Freedom, and Local Citizens Referendum Rights
My Story
I didn't set out to get involved in politics - I set out to protect my community
Years ago, before I held local office, I attended a public meeting in Powell about a proposed zoning change. The room was filled with concerned residents - only to be told the decision was already made and the meeting was “just a requirement.” I remember asking a simple question: If there’s nothing we can do, why are we here?
That moment changed my life
I went home and researched. I discovered the power of the referendum - the right of local citizens to take issues directly to the ballot. Though it wasn’t easy, I led the effort to gather signatures and put the issue before voters. The people spoke, and the zoning change was overwhelmingly rejected. It didn’t matter our respective political affiliation - when it came to protecting our neighborhoods, we stood united.
That victory inspired me to run for public office. I served on Powell City Council, where I worked to strengthen the citizens’ voice, improve efficiency, and enhance quality of life. Later, in 2009, while serving as Liberty Township Trustee, I stood firmly with residents defending their right to referendum - even when it meant being criticized by fellow officials. I didn’t back down, I doubled down.
In 2009, I went to law school to better equip myself to fight for citizens and level the playing field. Today, I am a practicing attorney and an admitted bar member of the United States Supreme Court, U.S. District Court of the Southern District of Ohio/Eastern Division, and Ohio Supreme Court.
I’m also married to Vince Guzzo, for over thirty years, a proud mother of two graduates of Olentangy Liberty High School, and share our home with the family dog, Teddy. We are members of Worthington Christian Church and Longtime residents of Delaware County.
In recent years, I have witnessed a troubling erosion of local citizens’ rights to vote on local zoning changes through referendum and government accountability. I believe in conservative principles - faith, family, freedom, and limited government that answers to the people. And I am ready to fight to restore your right to vote on local zoning changes and protect your interests and not special interests.
That’s why I’m running to be your State Representative for the 60th District
This campaign is about protecting your voice and restoring power where it belongs, with you.
I am Peggy S. Guzzo, Republican candidate for State Representative for the 60th District in the May 5th Primary and this is a call to action to join me as I fight to restore your rights.
